For drivers, we collect location data in the foreground and background while you are actively providing transportation services, to enable ride tracking, dispatch, and navigation. You can control location permissions through your device settings.
- Push Notification Tokens: If you enable push notifications, we collect device tokens to send you ride status updates, driver assignments, and other service-related alerts via Firebase Cloud Messaging.
- Camera and Photo Library: If you grant permission, we access your camera or photo library solely for uploading profile photos and driver documents. We do not access these without your explicit consent.
- Information Collected by Cookies and Other Tracking Technologies: We use different technologies to collect information, including cookies and web beacons. Cookies are small data files stored on your hard drive or in device memory that help us improve our services and your experience, see which areas and features of our services are popular, and count visits.
Information We Collect From Other Sources
We may also obtain information from other sources and combine that with information we collect through our services. For example, if you create or log into your Wave account through a third-party platform (like Facebook), we will have access to certain information from that service, such as your name and account information, in accordance with the authorization procedures determined by such third-party platform.

AI-Powered Services
Our platform uses artificial intelligence, powered by OpenAI, to provide booking assistance via chat, SMS, and voice. When you interact with our AI systems:
- Conversations are processed by OpenAI's language models to understand your booking requests and provide assistance
- Voice recordings are transcribed to text for processing
- Conversation data may be stored to improve service quality and personalize your experience
- We do not share individual conversations with third parties for their marketing purposes
- OpenAI processes your conversation data in accordance with their data usage policies and does not use your data to train their general models
You can request deletion of your conversation history by contacting our support team or deleting your account through the app.
Public Driver Profiles
Active drivers on the Wave platform may claim a unique username to create a publicly accessible driver profile page at waveride.ai/[username]. By claiming a username, you acknowledge and agree that the following information will be displayed publicly on the internet and accessible to anyone, including non-registered users and search engines:
- Name: Your full name as provided in your driver profile.
- Profile Photo: Your uploaded profile image, if any.
- Location: Your city and state (not your street address or precise location).
- Performance Metrics: Your ride completion count and average star rating.
- Certification Status: Whether you hold an active certification tier and the tier name.
- Rider Reviews: Up to 10 recent reviews left by riders, including the rider's first name, star rating, and comment text.
Opt-In Nature: Public profiles are created only when a driver actively claims a username. If you do not claim a username, no public profile page will exist for you. You may request removal of your username and public profile at any time by contacting support@waveride.co or updating your profile through the driver portal.
Rider Review Visibility: When riders leave reviews for drivers, those reviews may appear on the driver's public profile page. The rider's first name (not last name, email, or other identifying information) will be displayed alongside their review. By submitting a review, riders acknowledge that their first name and review content may be publicly visible.
Caching and Search Engines: Public profile pages may be cached by our servers and indexed by search engines. After removal of a username, cached or indexed copies may persist temporarily on third-party services outside our control.
Driver Verification, Background Checks, and Training
Background Checks
As part of the driver onboarding process, we may conduct background checks through third-party providers (currently QuickApp). When you apply to drive with Wave, the following information may be shared with background check providers: your full name, email address, phone number, and date of birth. Background check results (pass, fail, or manual review) are stored in your applicant and driver records. You have the right to dispute inaccurate background check results by contacting support@waveride.co. Background check data is retained for the duration of your relationship with Wave and for a period of five (5) years thereafter to comply with regulatory requirements.
Drug Test Opt-In
During driver sign-up, you may be presented with the option to opt in to drug testing as part of a driver verification program. Drug test opt-in status is considered sensitive health-related information. We collect only whether you have opted in or out; we do not collect or store drug test results directly. If you opt in, a third-party testing provider may contact you separately. Your opt-in status may be used to award driver verification badges and is visible to Wave administrators. You may withdraw your opt-in at any time by contacting support@waveride.co.
Driver Training Programs
Wave may require or offer training programs for drivers. When you participate in training, we collect: quiz answers and scores, module completion timestamps, content viewing duration, overall program scores, and digital sign-off records. Digital sign-offs capture your typed name, IP address, browser user agent, and the date and time of acknowledgment for compliance record-keeping purposes. Training completion data may be linked to driver verification badges and is retained for the duration of your relationship with Wave.
Driver Documents
Drivers and applicants may be required to upload documents including driver's licenses, vehicle insurance certificates, and vehicle registration documents. These documents may contain sensitive personal information including license numbers, policy numbers, and expiration dates. Uploaded documents are stored securely in cloud storage with access restricted to authorized Wave personnel. Documents are retained for the duration of your active driver relationship and for a period of three (3) years after account deactivation or termination to comply with regulatory and insurance requirements.
